Washington, DC Event Venue - InterContinental Wharf
Recently I had the chance to have a site tour of the InterContinental Washington, DC - The Wharf. If you are not familiar with the District Wharf area, developers PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette brought this idea to life. They state it has dazzling water views, hot new restaurants, year-round entertainment, and waterside style all together in one inspiring location. They also claim it to be the most exciting neighborhood in the history of the nation’s capital.
The InterContinental Wharf is located there and serves as the host location to our Style Shoot Workshop on April 21st. If you remember, we talked about a few of our top event and wedding venues in the DC area. So this is a chance to delve a little deeper into why the InterContinental Wharf made the list.
Here's what makes InterContinental Washington, DC - The Wharf so remarkable
The ultimate get-a-way
If you follow us on Facebook, as you should, you saw that we did a Facebook Live from their Penthouse. Now we are the first to even be inside the Penthouse as no one has booked the space yet. I told you you should follow us LOL.
The Penthouse is a TWO story experience that is totally fascinating. The views alone would cause anyone to book the place. It is also a perfect location as a VIP green room or bridal suite for when you get married there.
Each event space within InterContinental Wharf has natural sunlight which for a DC hotel is not always possible. As a DC Wedding and Event Planner I've been to many venues that either have no sunlight because the event spaces are underground, or they have very limited light.
This will never be the case for InterContinental. Their main ballroom has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Potomac River. The meeting rooms also have floor-to-ceiling windows rushing in natural sunlight.
When you book a DC Event Venue you want something that commands its own attention without having to use event lighting, draping, floral arrangements or any other enhancements. Heck yeah those are great, but when you have an event space that doesn't need as much, your event budget can possibly decrease.
As a DC Event Designer, I love using gold as it's so luxurious and makes a lot of things look spectacular. So I love seeing the use of gold throughout the venue. But it wasn't just the use of gold that I loved. Each space that I walked into made me want to touch and feel on all the unique textures and materials. From the interwoven leather chair backs, to the masculine wall sconces and the subtle hint of green that tied many of the rooms together made me feel as if they really wanted to attract our visual senses.
As you can see in our Instagram Stories, InterContinental Whaf does not rob you of a great view. From the bar, the lobby, the grand ball room, and the 12th floor event space, you simply cannot avoid looking outside. Wedding Wire reported that venue amenities that included natural sunlight was one of the biggest trends. Wouldn't you want to watch the sunset as you dine with 250 of your closes friends and family? I sure would.
The Washington, DC InterContinental - The Wharf is truly a hotel that checks every box you have for hosting a event or wedding. I strongly urge you to talk to Alicia and tell her that we sent you there.
